Cloud EMR
A cloud EMR for Philippine clinics — no server, nothing to install
DokTema runs in a browser. There is no machine to buy for the clinic, no software to update, and no licence tied to a particular computer. Open it on the desktop at the clinic, the tablet in the consultation room, or a phone at the front desk.
What “cloud” actually means here
The word gets used loosely. These are the specific things it means for a private clinic.
No server in your clinic
Nothing sits in a back room waiting to fail, overheat or be stolen. The system runs on hosted infrastructure, not on a PC beside the aircon.
Your own instance
Your clinic runs on its own system with its own database, rather than sharing one with every other clinic. Your records are not pooled.
Nothing to install
No setup disc, no per-machine licence, no update you have to remember. A new computer at the clinic just needs a browser and your login.
Any device you already own
Desktop, laptop, tablet or phone. Your secretary can add a walk-in from a phone while you document the visit on a larger screen.
Works from more than one place
The same records open wherever you sign in — a second clinic day across town, or checking a patient’s history from home.
No IT person required
Updates, hosting and the database are handled on our side. Your clinic manages patients, not infrastructure.
What happens when the internet goes down
Straight answer: the system is unreachable until the connection comes back. DokTema runs on a server rather than on your clinic’s computers, which is what makes everything above possible — and it means it needs a connection to work. There is no offline mode.
In practice clinics run it on the connection they already have, and fall back to mobile data when that drops, since the whole system works in a phone browser. Nothing is stored on the device, so moving between the clinic Wi-Fi and a phone hotspot loses nothing.
Worth weighing against the alternative: a clinic PC running local software fails differently. It keeps working in a brownout only until the battery goes, and when that machine dies it takes the records with it unless someone has been doing backups.
If you are a one-doctor clinic weighing this up, how it fits a solo practice goes into more detail — or work through the questions to ask any vendor.
Who can get into your records
The questions worth asking any cloud system, answered specifically.
- Separate systems per clinic Your clinic has its own instance and its own database. There is no shared table of everybody’s patients.
- One login per person Doctor and secretary have their own accounts, so the record shows who did what. Passwords are stored hashed, never in readable form.
- Role-based access, enforced server-side Clinical notes are read-only for staff, and prescriptions, lab requests and certificates are restricted to the doctor — not merely hidden in the interface.
- The records stay yours Under the Terms of Service, all patient information and clinical records remain the property of the clinic. DokTema does not access them except for maintenance or support you ask for.
Questions about running in the cloud
Do I need to install anything?
No. DokTema EMR runs in a web browser, so there is nothing to install or maintain on your clinic computers. You only need a device with a browser and an internet connection — desktop, laptop, tablet or phone.
What happens if my internet goes down?
The system is unreachable until the connection returns. There is no offline mode — DokTema runs on a server rather than on your clinic computers. Most clinics fall back to mobile data, since the full system works in a phone browser.
Can I open my records from home or a second clinic?
Yes. Sign in from any browser and the same records are there. Nothing is tied to a particular computer, and nothing is stored on the device you happen to be using.
Do I need to run my own backups?
No. Backups run daily on the server side, so there is nothing for your clinic to remember or maintain — no external drive, no end-of-day routine, and nothing lost if a clinic computer fails.
Does my clinic share a database with other clinics?
No. Each clinic runs on its own instance with its own database rather than a shared one. Your patient records are not pooled with anyone else’s.
How much does it cost?
Basic is ₱1,000 a month and Full is ₱1,500, both including a secretary account and a 7-day free trial. There is no contract, no setup fee, no per-seat licensing and no limit on how many patients you register — the price does not move as your records grow.
